AWS CloudWatch

AWS CloudWatch is the unified observability service: it collects metrics, logs, and events to monitor your AWS resources and applications in real-time.

CloudWatch provides the full-stack visibility you need, centralizing operational data from your AWS infrastructure and applications. It automatically collects key performance metrics—like CPU utilization for EC2 instances or invocation counts for Lambda functions—and aggregates application logs via CloudWatch Logs. You define thresholds on these metrics to create Alarms (e.g., trigger an SNS notification if `CPUUtilization` is > 80% for five minutes), which can then automatically initiate actions like Auto Scaling. Use customizable Dashboards to visualize performance trends and leverage Metrics Insights for fast, SQL-based analysis across millions of data points.
