MCAN
MCAN is a high-performance CAN bus controller core optimized for automotive Ethernet integration and Bosch CAN FD 1.0 specifications.
The MCAN (Modular Controller Area Network) IP core delivers robust communication for automotive ECUs by supporting the CAN FD protocol with data rates up to 8 Mbps. Developed by Bosch and integrated into silicon like the TI Sitara and NXP S32K series, it features a 32-bit architecture and a dedicated Message RAM (up to 16 KB) to offload the CPU during high-traffic bursts. This hardware-level efficiency ensures precise message filtering and timestamping for safety-critical systems like ADAS and powertrain control.
