The OV5640 is a high-performance, 5-megapixel CMOS image sensor that integrates a full camera system onto a single quarter-inch chip.

OmniVision’s OV5640 delivers a complete system-on-a-chip (SOC) solution designed for high-volume mobile and embedded applications. Built on the 1.4-micron OmniBSI architecture, it captures 5-megapixel (2592 x 1944) stills and high-definition video, including 1080p at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps. The hardware features a dual-lane MIPI interface, an integrated JPEG compression engine, and an internal anti-shake engine for image stabilization. With built-in autofocus control and a voice coil motor (VCM) driver, the OV5640 eliminates the need for external signal processors, significantly reducing the physical footprint and complexity of camera module designs.
