NIST AI RMF
A voluntary framework designed to manage AI risks and improve system trustworthiness through a structured, four-function lifecycle approach.
NIST released AI RMF 1.0 in January 2023 to help organizations navigate the technical and ethical complexities of artificial intelligence. The framework organizes risk management into four core functions: Govern, Map, Measure, and Manage. By applying these pillars, teams address specific risks (such as algorithmic bias and security vulnerabilities) while fostering seven characteristics of trustworthy AI (including safety, privacy, and transparency). It provides a flexible, non-sector-specific roadmap for developers and deployers to integrate risk assessment into every stage of the AI lifecycle.
